Introduction

The Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (PGDIP) is highly recognized by the corporate sector, thus it paves the way for budding Marketers to secure employment in the corporate sector in Sri Lanka. This is a 24 month part-time programme of study which offers prospective students and practitioners of marketing an opportunity to learn and apply sound theoretical concepts to their day-to-day business situations. It is a programme which will give students marketing competencies from operational level to synthesis level. The course has four levels:

  • The objective of the programme is to equip Marketers with sound theoretical and practical knowledge with exposure to applications in global and local business and Marketing contexts. Thus they should be able to consolidate, develop, and demonstrate core competencies which underpin effective Marketing skills at all levels of their career
  • A sound knowledge of concepts and applications of Marketing from operational level to synthesis level in an organization
  • The essential skills of communication, creativity, conceptualization, teamwork, and a professional approach to Business Management
  • The ability to plan and manage Marketing situations at operational, managerial, and strategic levels
  • The confidence to take initiatives and handle challenging situations in their career
  • Competencies in other areas in business functions for effective decision making

  • GCE A/L category : GCE A/L (local/London) 2 simple passes in new syllabus or 3 simple passes in old syllabus, excluding General English
  • GCE A/L category : GCE A/L - 1 simple pass (local/ London) excluding General English with 1 year work experience
  • GCE A/L category : Merit - Outstanding performance at GCE A/L 3As or 2As excluding General English
  • Experience category : 05 years experience in Executive / Management positions with GCE O/L
  • Graduate category : Graduate with Marketing Special Degree
  • Graduate category : Graduate of another discipline
  • MBA category : Executive MBA / MSc (Marketing) recognized university
  • MBA category : MBA specialized in Marketing from a recognized university

  • Undergraduate : Self-study : - University students are eligible to enroll under the self-study category by providing their university identity card as proof. This will not be applicable to Strategic Marketing Planning (SMP) subject at the strategic level and Research for Strategic Decision (RSD) subject at the final stage. (Exemptions will be applicable ONLY at the first registration for completed subjects.)
